Survival of the fittest Coursework Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Natural selection - Coursework Example For instance, negative practices like viciousness and murder are uncommon, however hardly present in the general public. Then again, social distortion of negative acts like homicide and viciousness are standard qualities (Alvaro, 2010). In this specific situation, the standard appropriation of positive social propensities over negative propensities is equivalent to endurance of fittest and attractive genets in Darwin’s system of characteristic choice. With regards to morals, the system of endurance for the fittest can be utilized to fathom endurance methodologies utilized by people and gatherings in the general public. Fundamentally, the endurance for the fittest instrument states that like all creatures, people notwithstanding, contend with one another for endurance and thriving. Accordingly, human procedures for endurance and thriving are intrinsically childish in nature (Phillips, 2002). Under the correct conditions, each individual is intrinsically modified to act in a way liable to protect oneself. In present day social orders, material riches is a substantial proportion of individual flourishing. Since people are almost certain to egotistically seek after exercises that expand their material riches, at that point one can without much of a stretch comprehend the beginnings of profoundly established indecencies like debasement out in the open and private association. Like different governments, United States battled and still battles with debasement in open establishments. As a matter of fact, government officials and any person in a right position can, and will most likely guide however much o pen riches as could reasonably be expected, insofar as their activities are either directed covertly, or are inside the legitimate limits (Pepin, 2013). Accordingly, defilement and other dishonest practices executed by people or gatherings are appearance of egotistical wanted intended to safeguard and improve one’s endurance in a serious domain. Be that as it may, endurance for the fittest can be utilized to comprehend the well known part of

The Impacts Of Minimum Wages Policy Economics Essay

The Impacts Of Minimum Wages Policy Economics Essay In view of the chart over, the amount flexibly of nearby work before setting the lowest pay permitted by law (P1) is at Q1. In the wake of setting the lowest pay permitted by law (P2), the amount flexibly of nearby work increments to Q2. The amount gracefully of complete work before setting the lowest pay permitted by law (P1) is at Q4. In the wake of setting the lowest pay permitted by law (P2), the amount request diminishes to Q3. Inferable from the explanation that setting the lowest pay permitted by law, deficiencies of nearby work at JKL emerges at the lowest pay permitted by law of P2 and excess of remote work at EKM emerges at the lowest pay permitted by law of P2. The setting of least wages will expand the joblessness rate since managers will hope to recruit progressively particular workers or less representatives to keep up sound edges (Chotin, Finch, Eaton, Engham, Goldblatt, 2009). A case of joblessness from ordering would be Washington. Washingtons high schooler joblessness in 1999 was 19.7% and as ordering was applied its adolescent joblessness expanded to 29.7% in year 2008 (Chotin, Finch, Eaton, Engham, Goldblatt, 2009). The accompanying chart shows the development in teenager joblessness rates in Washington (Chotin, Finch, Eaton, Engham, Goldblatt, 2009). It used to contrast and the joblessness paces of the remainder of United States. This diagram shows that when the lowest pay permitted by law rises organizations enlist less representatives to work. For retailers, this implies less workers on the floor offering, keeping up stock and helping clients to discover items. For instance, stores which center around client support won't have the option to make such clearing representative reductions (Chotin, Finch, Eaton, Engham, Goldblatt, 2009). Market Basket, a supermarket natural way of life based out of Massachussetts is a case of a store concentrating on consumer loyalty, which faces issue on raising least wages. Market Basket recruits numerous youthful adolescents to keep the floor brimming with workers to help the clients however much as could be expected. They likewise attempt to ensure the store perfect, satisfactory and answer clients questions. Subsequently, when setting the lowest pay permitted by law, it will powers Market Basket and different administrations centers retailers cut backs in different regions (Chotin, Finch, Eaton, Engham, Goldblatt, 2009). Other than that, if the administration setting least wages approach, it will influence the profitability and productivity of managers or makers (Chua, 2008). When there is the lowest pay permitted by law arrangement, the makers will look for elective approach to decrease the quantity of workers, for example, exchange new machine and new innovative so as to spare the expense of creation in long haul premise. For instance, there are two similarly gainful laborers allocated to clear a lush part. The primary specialist is given a scoop and a hatchet, the second, piece of machinery. Therefore, the subsequent laborer is increasingly beneficial contrast and first specialist on the grounds that difficult work can't contend with better innovation (Matthew B. Kibbe, 1998). Also, least wages approach causes swelling in the nation. At the point when the administration set higher least wages approach, the makers can't adapt to expenses of creation. It will make the costs of all items increment massively. Subsequently, the populace, particularly the low pay class, would think that its progressively hard to remain in the high living use society. In view of the market analyst, this known as cost-push expansion (Michael Pollick, 2010). An expansion in the government the lowest pay permitted by law will build the expenses of creation, which in this manner brings about a swelled cost for shoppers. Managers like to enlist outsiders since they are charge lower compensation and are all the more ready to work additional hours (Loh, 2009). In year 2008, outside non-occupants people represent 1.2 million individuals of the whole populace and with the suspicion that remote work from Singapore isn't remote ability. In this manner, if the nation sets the base wages approach, it will decrease reliance on remote work since Malaysians will be allowed need in work position contrasted with outside specialists (Chua, 2008). Therefore, the lowest pay permitted by law strategy would carry preferences and inconveniences to Malaysia and her populace. To diminish the impact of the drawbacks of the lowest pay permitted by law, the Malaysian government needs to work out the best path on decreasing the impediments of the lowest pay permitted by law arrangement with the goal that legislature and populace can pick up as much as advantages as trusted. The legislature would need to investigate the subtleties relating to the deficiencies of the lowest pay permitted by law strategy, for example, the chance of increment in remote work rather than neighborhood works and consider other potential issues that could emerge. Question 2 2.1 Introduction Total national output (GDP) is characterized as the all out market estimation of a countrys yield. It is the market estimation of every single last great and administrations delivered inside a given timeframe by elements of creation situated inside a nation (Case Fair, 2002). The creation of a given estimation of products and enterprises would create an equivalent estimation of salary. Accordingly, the fundamental balance between the GDP and gross residential pay shows that the GDP can be estimated both as the all out estimation of yield created and as the pay produced in delivering that yield (Tregarthen, 1996). Along these lines, in the accompanying exposition, GDP per capita is utilized as a proportion of monetary development and expectations for everyday comforts of a nation over some undefined time frame. 2.2 Measuring Economic Output Performance A countrys monetary yield execution is right now estimated utilizing the GDP of the nation. A strategy rehearsed by practically all nations by and by. The GDP is a generally utilized and acknowledged technique for financial estimation in numerous nations. It is refreshed every now and again and checked by explicit national factual bodies to guarantee the best precision of the financial estimation (Madsen, 2006). Gross domestic product empowers the nation organizers and monetary organizers to screen the financial pattern of the nation in an ordinary, occasional premise. Notwithstanding the normalized GDP, there are numerous constraints to this idea. One of these confinements is GDP per capita neglects to incorporate non-advertised yield and family unit creation. Gross domestic product per capita does exclude the estimation of the exertion and time put into giving family merchandise and ventures (Tregarthen, 1996). For instance, a family repainted their home without anyone else without utilizing the administrations of a talented painter. Their time and exertion was excluded from the estimation of the GDP. In any case, if the family utilizes the administration of a gifted painter to repaint their home, the worth would be included into the GDP. These would appear in the GDP. In any case, it doesn't mirror the genuine increment underway. It might mirror a move underway from a classification that is excluded from the GDP (eg. family unit creation) to another classification that is incorporated. Gross domestic product additionally neglects to incorporate natural corruption (Waterson, 2010). An expanding pay and development of a nation could be occuring to the detriment of the earth. Quick creating nations risk making negative externalities the earth. The assembling part could be contributing a ton to the countries GDP, nonetheless, the division could likewise be the significant supporter of the air contamination in the zone because of the smoke discharged. The dirtied air can mess breathing up and maladies among the neighboring social orders. Moreover, salary got from the underground market and charitable effort isn't represented in the GDP (Madsen, Dec 2006). On account of the underground market, there are no reports of creation to the administration to dodge charge and the law. For instance, the secret exercises, similar to prostitution, human dealing, and medication dealing, are rewarding. Be that as it may, they are not announced on account of the law. On account of humanitarian effort and magnanimous associations, they don't procure salary in any case. Subsequently, it isn't accounted for in the GDP regardless of the yield created. 2.3 Measuring Rising Standard of Living The most widely recognized proportion of way of life is the utilization of genuine GDP per capita (Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, 2003). Genuine GDP per capita is the swelling balanced GDP per capita. Expecting different angles stay equivalent, a continued increment in genuine GDP would build the countrys way of life gave the yield increments at a quicker rate contrasted with the absolute populace (Riley, 2006). The upside of utilizing genuine GDP per capita is that the nation organizers and economy organizers can create financial approaches and improvement plans since the pattern in the GDP per capita at a particular period would mirror the expectations for everyday comforts of the populace (Madsen, 2006). Along these lines, identifying with the paper article in the inquiry, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, had uncovered the New Economic Model 2010 in light of the fact that the administration accepts that the expectations for everyday comforts of Malaysians can be additionally improved. Be that as it may, there are confinements to the use of genuine GDP per capita as a proportion of expectations for everyday comforts. The inability to consider the dissemination of pay is one of its inadequacies. Since genuine GDP per capita (per capita pay) is a marker of the normal expectation for everyday comforts of individual individuals from the populace, it can't extend the real expectations for everyday comforts of the populace (Madsen, 2006). Salary of the populace fluctuates as per the land area (Hillstrom, n.d.). Some portion of the populace might be getting their pay from the assembling business though another part could be procuring their salary from the travel industry segment. Per capita salary additionally differs significantly all through the world. As per Susan Dentzer in U.S. News and World Report, in 1988 the main 20 percent of nations around the world (in view of yearly national salary) announced per capita pay calculates a normal of multiple times more noteworthy than the last 20 percent of nations. As of the last quarter of 2009, Malaysias per capita pay (Gross National Income per capita) figure remains at RM25,201 (Department of Statistics Malaysia, 2010). The genuine GDP likewise doesn't take into

The Erotic in Joyces A Painful Case - Literature Essay Samples

The characters whom inhabit Joyces world in Dubliners, often have, as Harvard Literature Professor Fischer stated in lecture, a limited way of thinking about and understanding themselves and the world around them. Such determinism, however, operates not on a broad cultural scale, but works in smaller, more local, more interior and more idiosyncratic ways. That is, the forces which govern Joyces characters are not necessarily cultural or socioeconomic in nature, but rather, as Prof. Fischer stated, are tiny, and work on a more intimate level. In any case, as a result of such forces, these stories often tend to be about something, as Prof. Fischer said, that doesnt happen, about the romance of yearning and self-disappointment. Joyces story A Painful Case is a perfect example of a story about something that doesnt happen, and more specifically, about the romance of yearning. It is through such yearning, however, and the various erotic forms that such yearning takes, that Joyces characte rs are able to transcend the forces which govern their lives. In A Painful Case the erotic takes on three separate forms: mental, physical, and what I call, auditory. Although all three play a role in the story, it is only through auditory eroticism that Joyces protagonist, Mr. Duffy, comes to experience a moment of self-transcendence.While auditory eroticism may serve, in the end, as the conduit for Duffys self-transformation, initially it is mental eroticism that brings together Mr. Duffy and Mrs. Sinico. Joyce writes, Little by little he (Duffy) entangled his thoughts with hers. He lent her books, provided her with ideas, shared his intellectual life with her. She listened to all (110). Joyce uses the word entangled to frame the mental eroticism that he describes. Entangled instantly connotes an erotic physical entwining of bodies, but Joyce instead applies it to thoughts. Thoughts, rather than bodies, are entangled, and their mutual exchange of ideas is described as intercourse. We are told that in return for theories, facts are given out (111). Joyce, by using phrases like intercourse, in return and given out, builds an erotic framework into which he inserts ideas and facts and theories, thus reinforcing the notion that the transmission of such facts and theories must necessarily take on a distinctly erotic dimension. Only two paragraphs later, once Duffy and Mrs. Since become more closely acquainted, does Joyce, nearly verbatim, repeat this sentence, writing: Little by little, as their thoughts entangled, they spoke of subjects less remote (111). Notice that whereas before it was Duffy who entangled his thoughts with Mrs. Sinicos, in the second instance a shift occurs in the subject, so now it is their thoughts which entangle. In the first instance Duffy plays the typical male role of aggressor; it is he who initiates the entangling. In the second, however, the entangling is mutual, as suggested by the passive verb tense. Such a shift only takes on signi ficance when we consider the physical forms eroticism takes on in A Painful Case. The first, and only, instance of actual physical contact comes when Mrs. Sinico loses control of her emotions and caught up his hand passionately and pressed it to her cheek (112). In this case it is Mrs. Sinico who acts as the aggressor; it is she who initiates physical intimacy with Duffy. The roles have been reversed; where Duffy played the aggressor in entangling his mind with hers, it is she who plays the aggressor in entangling her hand with his.But although Duffy and Mrs. Sinico share facts and ideas with one another in a mentally erotic fashion, they never, through such sharing, are united. And when physical eroticism is attempted, the two actually separate. Thus it neither through physical, nor mental eroticism, but as we shall see, auditory eroticism that the two eventually are brought together. The first instance of this occurs when Joyce writes, The dark discreet room, their isolation, the music that still vibrated in their ears united them (111). As with the description of mental eroticism, (i.e. thoughts entangling), Joyce couches auditory eroticisim in physically erotic terms as well. It is through sound, in this case music, music which we are told vibrates, that the two are brought together, united. The setting, a dark discreet room, the way in which the music is described, vibrating and the use of the phrase united, all suggest a kind of romantic, physically erotic union. Similarly, Joyce later describes how Duffy seemed to feel her voice touch his ear (118). By describing a voice as touching an ear, Joyce again suggests a physical act of eroticism. Unlike, however, the touching of their hands, which Joyce says Duffy imagines as well, the idea of a voice touching an ear suggests not only external touching, but because a voice enters ones body and soul, also connotes images of penetration. A voice, unlike hands, penetrates; committing the most erotic act of all. I t is not, however, until the end of the story that we are able to understand not only how sound and voice functions in a auditory erotic fashion, but how such eroticism is responsible for Duffys, albeit impermanent, self-transcendence. In a passage which Professor Fischer would label a Joycean moment or unit, he writes, He turned his eyes to the grey gleaming river, winding along towards Dublin. Beyond the river he saw a goods train winding out of Kingsbridge Station, like a worm with a fiery head winding through the darkness, obstinately and laboriously. It passed slowly out of sight; but still he heard in his ears the laborious drone of the engine reiterating the syllables of her name.He turned back the way he had come, the rhythm of the engine pounding in his ears. He began to doubt the reality of what memory had told him. He halted under a tree and allowed the rhythm to die away. He could not feel her near him in the darkness nor her voice touch his ear. He waited for some minut es listening. He could hear nothing: the night was perfectly silent. He listened again: perfectly silent. He felt that he was alone (118). We must first of all treat Joyces sexually explicit metaphor of a train as a worm with a fiery head winding through the darkness. There are obvious overtly phallic connotations here, and it is this explicitness which is so surprising; Joyces tone in this instance differs severely from other erotic moments in the story. While entangling thoughts or voices touching ears may hold vague erotic undertones, Joyces metaphor here is so graphic, so explicit and so overt that it can be read as clichà ©. The idea of a train symbolizing a penis is not, in any way, new. Joyce, then, in another abrupt change of tone, breaks out of his realism and tell us that the drone of the engine reiterates the syllables of her name (118). This is a surreal, magical moment; clearly the drone of the engine wouldnt, in real life, sound her name, but Duffy hears it this way. It is in this moment, when he hears the train and then hears her name that auditory eroticism is fully realized. That is, Joyce frames the surreal moment in a fully erotic, although cliched, manner: a worm with a fiery head. This frame suggests that in hearing (magically) her name, he thus consummates, sexually, his relationship with her. In this instance physical hearing and magical hearing become one; he hears her name, and thus he consummates, in his mind, their relationship.Duffy experiences a moment of self-transcendence. He goes outside of, if only for a moment, his own categories or ways of thinking and feeling. But what exactly constitute such categories? Duffy is a man who would catch himself listening to the sound of his own voiceHe heard the strange impersonal voice which he recognized as his own, insisting on the souls incurable loneliness. We cannot give ourselves, it said: we are our own (112). It is this inexplicable it, this strange impersonal voice, which he knows i s his own yet has no power over, that prevents him from loving, from consummating his love and from giving himself fully to his lover. This is his how he is, how his body and brain and soul work. It limits what he can feel and do. Thus after having just witnessed venal and furtive loves and having felt himself outcast from lifes feast, Duffy experiences a transcendent, surreal moment where he, in an erotic and cliched sexual manner, symbolically consummates his relationship with Mrs. Sinico. It is as almost as if her name drowns out his it. For an instance he is no longer alone, being joined to his lover in spirit and symbol. Notice, however, that this sentiment almost instantly vanishes. He begins to doubt the reality of what just happened, and he allows the rhythm of the engine, to die away just as he let her die in real life. Reality and realism reassert themselves. In the end, his it regains control. The strange, impersonal voice which had told him that the soul is always alone, again wins out, and then finally, He felt that he was alone (118). But is, in truth, this moment of self-transcendence, if it happens at all, not all that glorious or for that matter, enlightening? Joyces description of the train is not one framed in glorious terms, but rather with a cliched sexual metaphor. And the sound of the train is described as a laborious drone,- not exactly poetic. The ultimate irony here is that while there is a surreal moment of self-transcendence, Joyce refuses to poetically beautify such a moment; the trains sound isnt lovely or pretty or pleasant, its a laborious drone. In fact he goes in the opposite direction, intentionally cheapening the moment by employing an explicit, cliched sexual metaphor as a symbol of the consummation of their relationship. Note that the sound which prompts the self-transcendence is not her voice touching his ear, which is a beautiful and original image, but rather the laborious drone of a symbolically cliched phallic train. Thus Joyce refuses to allow this moment of self-transcendence to take on poetic dimensions; Duffy may go outside of himself here, but, Joyce through the use of a cliched sexual metaphor and drab description of the trains drone, maintains his, as Professor Fischer would say, scrupulous meanness. The moment is thus dampened; Duffys self-transcendence is not allowed to shine in full poetic fervor and reality, although Joyce attempts to escape it, seeps back in through his words and metaphors.

The Fallacy Of Public Education - 1580 Words

The Fallacy of Public Education â€Å"Do not train a child to learn by force or harshness; but direct them to it by what amuses their minds, so that you may be better able to discover with accuracy the peculiar bent of the genius of each.† -Plato For the last several decades, there has been a great return to homeschooling. Many families have seen the need to remove their children from the public education system for a variety of reasons: for religious grounds, because of a decline of morals in the public system, or to give their children an education where they are not held back from reaching their potential. When homeschooling, a child can work at their own pace – often learning 2 years or more of material in one year and allowing them to fully explore topics that interest them. Their intellectual curiosity can be fulfilled and they can be the best they can possibly be. Students in the public school system are subjected to teaching that is repetitive, biased, and falls short of academic success. In the past, students that were failing coursework, but were getting older, were pushed on to higher grades even though they were not ready for the more advanced coursework. Information Security in e-Banking Analysis of Potential Threat and So

Question: Describe about the Information Security in e-Banking? Answer: Introduction Internet banking has been receiving growing popularity across the globe. E-banking permits its customers to undertake financial transaction on a website governed by the bank and it can be accessed from anywhere, anytime. Convenience of the e-banking is the principal factor for its popularity (Hole, Moen and Tjostheim, 2006). Despite of several advantages, online banking transactions have been encountering significant security threats. Increasing number of malicious applications and security attack has been a major concern for the banking organizations as well as users (Cook, 2002). In recent past, several cases of internet banking fraud have been reported across the globe. Hence, sound and secured information technology environment is the major concern for all banking organizations. However, it must be noted that the responsibility of secure online banking transactions is not only on the banks but also the users (Dhillon and Backhouse, 2000). Online banking is consisted of series of processes where the customers logs into the website of the bank and undertakes different transactions (Twum and Ahenkora, 2012). It has been identified that the information security in online banking has been a major issue due to various reasons such as flaws in banking websites, errors in policy, lack of security measures and lack of awareness among the customers (Kasemsan and Hunngam, 2011). Information security in the internet banking context is highly concerned regarding the protecting the integrity, confidentiality and availability of the information with the aid of technical solution as well as managerial actions (Hole, Moen and Tjostheim, 2006). This paper will focus on identification of the major threats and propose effective solutions in order to combat with the security threats. Research Aims and Objectives Research aims and objectives help in indicating the principal purpose of the study. Moreover, the aims and objectives of a research help in denoting the desired result of the study (Adams, 2007). The major research aims and objectives of the study are given below: To understand and analyze the existing e-banking security policies and techniques. To identify the potential threats regarding information security in e-banking. To protect the integrity, availability and confidentiality of the information in internet banking. Research Questions Research questions are drafted for discussing the principal concerns of the research paper or solving the main problem. Answering the research questions, the study can proceed further towards the right direction and ultimately it will reach firm conclusion. The research questions for this study are presented below: What are the information security policy and techniques adopted by the banking institutions? What are the potential information security threats in internet banking? How the banks as well as users can combat with the potential information security threats for protecting the information? Research Hypothesis H (0): There is no appropriate information security system in internet banking for protecting integrity and confidentiality of the information. H (1): There is an appropriate information security system in internet banking for protecting integrity and confidentiality of the information. Research Methodology Research methodology is the significant part of the study which provides an insight to different elements of the research study. The research methodology can be described as a comprehensive approach that helps in designing the pathways for the researcher that ensures successful achievement of the research goals (Adams, 2007). Hence, it can be stated that the research methodology plays a crucial role in the success of the research study. It is very important for the researcher to be careful in determining the research methodology of that particular study. Research methodology includes every step undertaken by the researcher during the study. Research design, research approach, methods of data collection, data analysis procedure etc are discussed in the research methodology (Bryman, 2004). The research methodology adopted for analyzing the potential security threats and solution in the e-banking industry will be discussed in this section. Research Onion Research studies are designed for answering a question of addressing a specific issue. Research onion is a metaphor that is used for illustrating how the different elements of the study will be considered in relation to other components for addressing the particular research topic. Research onion was conceptualized by Saunders et al. (2007), for describing different stages through which the researcher need to pass in order to formulate an effective strategy for conducting the study. Each stage of the research study has significant importance and crucial to the success of the study. It is evident that each layer of the research onion has a specific implication. Hence, the major responsibility of the researcher is to start the exploration from the outer most layers of the research onion and therefore going through the each layer for reaching a firm conclusion. The research onion provides significant assistance for identification of the most suitable pathway in order to undertake the re search study (Saunders, Lewis and Thornhill, 2007). Research onion significantly contributes in structuring different activities and developing strategies for undertaking the study in right direction. Research Philosophy The outer most layer of the research onion is associated with the set of beliefs concerning the nature of the environment in which the study has been carried out (Dooley, 2001). Adoption of the research philosophy provides the justification for how the research study will be carried out. As research philosophy is the outer most layer of the research onion, the other layers are significantly reliant upon the chosen research philosophy. There are two common research philosophies: positivism and constructism (Bryman, 2004). The major objective of this research study is to recognize the major security threats in context of e-banking. Additionally, it is important to find out solution for combating with those identified threats so that the information remains secured. In this study, adoption of positivism philosophy will be significantly helpful in satisfying the objective of the exploratory study. This study will focus on emphasizing the information that has been derived by using differe nt analytical tools and critical thinking along with the information collected from the reliable sources (Saunders, Lewis and Thornhill, 2007). Hence, it can be stated that positivism philosophy will be suitable for this research study. Research Approach Research approach is considered to be the second layer of the research onion. Research approach determines the method of conducting the study or deciding different activities that need to be conducted for reaching firm conclusion. Generally researchers adopt inductive or deductive approach for conducting research study. Inductive research approach is applied in case of researches where the researcher moves from specific to general. It is used in case of qualitative researchers where theoretical frameworks do not exist (Silverman, 2005). In case of inductive approach the researcher develops a new theory on the basis of observation. Deductive approach focuses on development of hypothesis on the basis of an existing theoretical framework. Therefore, it engages in formulating an approach for testing it (Kothari, 2004). Deductive approach is suitable in case of positivist approach where hypothesis is formulated and statistical tools are used for analyzing the data. In this research paper, the researcher will focus on identification of the potential threats and solution for protecting the security of information in internet banking. Hypothesis has been developed in this paper on the basis of past research studies. Hence, it can be stated that adoption of deductive research approach will be appropriate for this paper. Research Design Research design is the third layer of the research onion and it is associated with the pathway of the research study. Research design makes a contribution through providing a specific direction to the study. The research design assists in establishment of a framework in order to undertake the study. It is evident that the specific direction or pathway determined by the research design has a significant correlation with the objective of the study. Generally, researchers adopt a research design among three research designs: exploratory, descriptive and explanatory. Descriptive design has been found to be effective for this study for providing support to relate the research objectives (Silverman, 2005). The descriptive research study significantly helps in analyzing the findings and it will assist in answering the research questions. Ultimately, it will help the researcher in drawing a firm conclusion which will help in fulfilling the requirement of the study (Singh, 2007). Hence, descr iptive research design will be effective for identification of the potential security threats in e-banking. Moreover, it will also help in providing appropriate solution in order to combat with the security threats. Data Collection Method Data collection is considered to be one of the important activities of research study. It has been observed that the results of the study are extensively reliant on the gathered information (May, 2011). The analysis will be conducted on the basis of the gathered data. In this section, the methodology for collecting data will be discussed. There are two types of data that will be used in this study: primary and secondary. Primary Data Collection Primary data refers to the information that are exclusively collected for that particular study through different methods primary data can be collected through conducting survey or interview (Dooley, 2001). In this study, primary data will be gathered by conducting interview. IT managers of the banking organizations will be approached and they will be interviewed (May, 2011). Before conducting the interview, the researcher needs to develop an open ended questionnaire that will help in gaining information security in internet banking. Secondary Data Collection Secondary data refers to the information, theoretical framework, findings of past research studies etc. In this paper, secondary data can be collected from wide range of books, academic journals, trusted websites, research papers etc (Gillham, 2000). All secondary information has been sourced from the authentic and reliable resources. The sources of secondary information have been properly referenced at the end of the paper (Kothari, 2004). Data Analysis After collecting the relevant data, data analysis must be undertaken for deriving information that will help in reaching the final conclusion. Both qualitative as well as quantitative data analysis technique can be adopted by the researchers. In this study, the researcher must adopt qualitative as well as quantitative data analysis method. It means, mixed research method will be adopted for analyzing data (Fielding, 2010). Ethical Consideration In this research study, wide range of data is collected from different sources. Ethical issues are associated with data collection and utilization of those data. First of all, the personal information of the interviewee must be kept confidential. Moreover, the information will be only used for academic purpose. These aspects must be considered at the time of research study. Gantt chart Gantt chart provides an insight regarding the probable time taken for conducting each step of the research study (Dooley, 2001). Principal Activities Week 1 Week 2 Week 3 Week 4 Week 5 Week 6 Week 7 Research topic selection scope analysis Identification of the sources for secondary data Literature Review Description of Research Methodology Preparation of survey questions Collection of primary data Data analysis Comparison of findings Conclusion and recommendation Final submission Expected Outcome or Importance This paper has focused on analyzing the information security system in internet banking. Growing concern regarding the security issues in online banking has been identified across the globe. This study will help in identification of the major security threats of the information system in e-banking. The expected outcome relating to the potential security threats is briefly discussed. The potential security threats can be categorized into two types. First of all internal security threats are associated with the internal activities of the banking organizations (Kasemsan and Hunngam, 2011). As the internet banking transaction is significantly reliant on the software programs and information technology mechanisms, errors in the system can lead to major issue in the online transaction. Moreover, human errors must be considered as a major threat. Wrong entry of data relating to a transaction is considered to be a major issue which affects the security of the account (Smith, 2006). Sometimes , the fraudulent activities of the internal employees are found to be responsible for the security risk (Lei and Wang, 2014). Often the internal employees misuse the personal information; access code and password of the customers for making own benefit (French, 2012). Poor administration of the banking industry can be blamed for the security risk in the internet banking. Corporate governance plays a major role in the protecting the confidentiality and integrity of the information in e-banking (Hole, Moen and Tjostheim, 2006). Organization having poor corporate governance system has greater exposure towards security risk. External security threats may include the attack of malwares, computer virus, and spyware. Unethical hacking and other security attacks by external party are considered to be a major threat in internet banking (Post and Kagan, 2007). These issues need to be resolved by enhancing the IT security by the banking organization. Firewall and improved internet security pro tocol are considered to be effective solution for combating with the external security threats in e-banking (R. Melba Kani and Thanga Joy, 2011). On the other hand, internal security threats can be resolved with the aid of improved IT security system, effective internal and strong corporate governance (Dhillon and Backhouse, 2000). Romeo and Juliet is a love tragedy based on different kinds of loves Essay Example

Romeo and Juliet is a love tragedy based on different kinds of loves Essay Romeo and Juliet is a love tragedy based on different kinds of loves. Romeo and Juliet become married in a forbidden relationship over the high tension brawl between their rival families which Shakespeare clearly shows in the play. Despite the family brawls, the pair decides to let their perfect love defeat all. Peoples ideas have changed in the space of 400 years, for example back then some loves featured in this play would produce different reactions to the audience, than today. Shakespeare opens the play with the chorus who speaks a sonnet, where love imagery is found; Two Star-crossed lovers This hints the couple feeling stuck and desperate to be free to love one another. The stars in this quote means their love is bound to happen, the forbidden bit is in the darkness, as stars are covered by darkness meaning the two lovers are as well, but as stars shine in the dark night this proves their love is everlasting in spite of the hard situation. In the first scene fighting is going on and rude comments are being passed out between the two families. Some other quotes showing how much the two families hate one another, which could lead even to risking their own lives just to show how brave they were. We also know that the two families liked winding each other up which would lead up more fights therefore some more entertainment for the Shakespeare audience. The first love we see in Romeo and Juliet is the love not between the two star crossed lovers but Romeo and Rosaline. The type of love for these two is Elizabethan courtly love, this is when some one uses flowery words and actions with out really meaning them, Benvolio describes this supposed love in Act 1, scene 1. Courtly love is unrequited love between two people. In this case Rosaline is apparently too good or unattainable and Romeo is inadequate for her, and he is using what we now call false love language to show her his fake or empty love for her. Alas that love so gentle in his view should be so tyrannous and rough in proof! Benvolio in truth says that this love is fake and very different to the love we see later on in the play with Juliet. When Romeo and Juliet meet for the first time in the Capulet party Romeos language changes from Elizabethan courtly love to real almost perfect love. Shakespeare shows this to us because he uses religious words and thoughts to highlight the quality of their love. The sonnet split between them is a form of love poetry used quite a lot in Shakespeares time. The actors also shows love by language and hand movement as the part played by Juliet was played by a man 400 years ago. if I profane with my unworthyest hand this holy shrine, the gentle sin is this. Already we can see a big difference in language from the language he used with Rosaline you can tell he is speaking form the heart and Shakespeare made sure of that. Shakespeare I think also uses some religious actions and words in his play as hand movements are used in prayer as well. O then dear saint, let lips do what hands do. They pray; grant thou, lest faith turn to despair In Act 2, scene 3 when Romeo stands outside of Juliets balcony he talks about Juliet in true love imagery. Arise fair sun, and kill the envious moon The brightness of her cheek would shame those stars Romeo compares Juliet as if she was the sun, stars and heaven, which again Shakespeare uses imagery to tell the audience how much Romeo is in love with her as the characters were played by men, unfortunately. Juliet then talks to herself in soft, peaceful imagery showing innocence and love for Romeo. When he bestrides the lazy puffing clouds, and sails upon the bosom of the air Juliets parents have arranged a marriage for Juliet and Paris. Arranged marriages in Shakespeares time were common in powerful families. Her parents think that it is because of her cousin, Tybalts death caused by Romeo that she is upset but they are wrong and the audience know the truth, this is an example of dramatic irony. Marry, that marry is the very theme I came to talk of. Tell me, daughter, Juliet Juliet is worried and troubled by the idea of the arranged marriage as she is married to Romeo secretly, this scene only would shock the audience of Shakespeares time as marrying some one and then marrying a second man was thought to be outrageous, more like unthinkable. Ere he that he should be husband comes to woo. I pray to tell my lord and father, madam, I will not marry yet, and when I do I swear It shall be Romeo, whom you know I hate, Rather than Paris. Juliet tells Lady Capulet, her mother how much she doesnt want to marry Paris and uses Romeo as an example to show her how much she hates him as he murdered Tybalt. The audience knows this is not true so this is an example of dramatic irony. Juliet is trying to make her parents understand how much she despises the idea of marrying Paris but her plan does not work, as she wants it to. It is not yet near day; it was the nightingale It is some meteor that the sun exhaled Here Shakespeare shows us how they dont what to leave each other just yet, those extra more seconds with each other mean a lot and even dough its morning they are not that worried about getting caught in bed together. As it is their first morning together being husband and wife. Mercutio, friend of Romeo is a playful character full of sexual innuendos. His lines are full of puns, especially when he can add a sexual meaning. Mercutio takes love as a joke and is the clown who entertains the audience and his friends with his funny lines. The pox of such antic, lisping, affecting phantasimes, these new turners of accent! By Jesus, a very good blade! a very tall man! a very good whore! When Juliet is first aware that Romeo has killed Tybalt her love and anger blend in a series of romantic words which illustrate her emotional state. Dove-feathered raven, wolvish-ravening lamb! Beautiful tyrant, fiend angelical! Then, dreadful trumpet, sound the general doom Juliet talks alone with the nurse and she begins to question Romeo being with her, this shocks Juliet as she believed in the nurse all along but now shes changed her mind and advises her to go for Paris. The nurse is showing her love for Juliet, as she doesnt want her to get caught with Romeo. The nurse is not telling her this so she doesnt get in trouble, but shes telling her to help her. And the nurse feels it is the right decision to go with Paris. At the beginning of Act 3, scene 2 we see Juliet alone waiting for her husband and she is very impatient to see him. She compares her love for the night with her love for Romeo. Cut him up into little stars And he will make the face of heaven so fine That all the world will be in love with night, And pay no worship to the garish sun. The use of star and sky imagery is used again to show us how her love and missing of her husband Romeo to the night once again. Another love in Shakespeares play is the friendly love between Romeo and Mercutio. Tybalt kills Mercutio, and Romeo because of this love risks his life to get Tybalt, he finds him and kills him to avenge Mercutios death. But before Mercutio died he blamed Romeo for getting him stabbed, so you could say this love is one sided, with only Romeo loving Mercutio. Although Tybalt is dead, Juliet still remains in love to her husband by standing by his side and defending him even though he murdered her cousin. This shows how strong her love is for Romeo even dough he has killed one of her close family members. Shall I speak ill of him that is my husband? But wherefore, villain, didst thou kill my cousin? That villain cousin would have killed my husband. In Act 4, scene 3 we see Juliet and Paris in Friar Lawrences cell talking about the wedding. Paris doesnt know about Juliets affair with Romeo. Juliet goes along with the wedding uneasy for what she should do to get out of it. That may be, sir, when I may be a wife Juliets responses are full of answers, which refer to Romeo; only the audience knows what Juliet is talking about. After Paris leaves, Juliet looks for help from Friar Lawrence who gives her the potion to make it look like shes dead and escape marriage to Paris. This is an example of unrequited love because Paris loves Juliet but she doesnt love him back in the same way. Oercovered quite with dead mens rattling bones, With reeky shanks and yellow chapless skulls Shakespeare adds scary imagery to Juliets speech. Juliet would rather take this potion and escape with Romeo than marry Paris this again shows how much they love each other. The dreadful imagery ends and the result is she takes the potion. Act 4, scene 3 when Juliet is saying her goodbyes before she takes the potion we see Juliet frightened as she thinks about what will happen if this plan was to go wrong and all these strange thoughts going trough her head about being stuck there and Romeo not being there when she wakes up. As in a vault, an ancient receptacle, Where for this many hundred years the bones Of all my buried ancestors are packed, Where bloody Tybalt, yet but green in earth She commits herself and lets go of all these thoughts and just takes the potion in the hope of her awaking to find her husband there to greet her. Act 5, scene 3 the scene where Paris is crying for Juliets death. As Juliet has taken the potion everyone thinks shes dead and was put in the vault with her ancestors as the plan said. When Romeo enters in search of Juliet Paris stops Romeo and they both fight for Juliets love. Romeo murders Paris this shows how much Paris loved Juliet but she didnt love him back this is unrequited love something Romeo felt at the start with Rosaline. Pariss last request was to get Romeo to lay him by her side this shows how much Paris did love her. When Romeo finally sees Juliet in her vault he takes the imagery to a new level by using dreadful and disturbing imagery, which he cries out in pain. He then takes some poison and dies for Juliet thinking she was dead all because Friar Lawrences message didnt get to him in time. When Juliet wakes up from her sleep she finds Romeo dead and the shock of seeing all this go wrong makes her just think of killing herself. Juliets direct speech is shorter than Romeos as Juliet feels guilty and is in pain to see al this tragedy. As Friar Lawrence tells Juliet the watch is coming she stabs herself before they ask her why shes still alive and whats been going on, Juliet does this to save herself and to be with her husband Romeo, after death. Yeah, noise? Then Ill be brief. O happy dagger, This is thy sheath; there rust and let me die. Love triumphs in the end because the two families are united. So although Romeo and Juliet have to die, love wins in the end-in a strange way. The Capulet and Montagues learn to re-unite because of the tragic death that the fight brought. Both County Paris and Romeo die because of Juliet and she kills herself because Romeo is dead, they erect a statue for them and mourn. Go hence to have more talk of these sad things, Some shall be pardoned, and some punished: For never was a story of more woe Than this of Juliet and her Romeo

Free Essays on Change Free Essays on Change â€Å"The Comparison of Occurring Change† Change occurs in many different forms and is carried out in many different ways. People often want to reject change but must realize it is a never ending cycle which occurs daily. It must be overcome to live life and be content. This explains the essay, â€Å"Once More to the Lake,† written by E.B. White. In this essay the author and his son travel to a camp located in Maine. This was a place White was taken to as a child. The author wanted his son to experience this place the same way he did growing up, but change in the camp had occurred. My experience is similar to E.B. Whites. In 1992, I was taken to a favorite spot of my mother’s childhood. This was a cottage, owned by my great grandparents. It was located in Port Colburne, Canada. Many changes had occurred here also, in comparison to Whites situation. My mother traveled to Canada twice a month with her family. The cottage, along with four other houses, was located on a circular piece of property facing a lake. The land was very open and spacious, not like the camp in Maine being heavily wooded; these cottages were not in this type of setting. The cooking took place at home. There were no restaurants or farmhouses nearby for dining. My mother remembers the smell of dead fish on nights of fish frys and the horrible stench of Lysol that came from the outhouse. As years passed, a bathroom was built inside, and my mother experienced this new feature at our time of visit. The two places were alike in many ways but also different. White remembers this place as â€Å"remote and primeval† (p75), while my mother spoke of the cottage as being quite and undisturbed, a perfect place to spend family time. The cottage in Canada sat right on a lake. My mother remembers playing in the sand and water each day with cousins. Usually everyone spent the same weekend together at this home. During this time the lake was very wide. Old car tires were bough... Tanglewood Stores - Measurement and Validation Essay

Tanglewood Stores - Measurement and Validation - Essay Example The  table gives a clear analysis of various variables. It shows an estimate of the correlation between some of the common predictors like education, managerial interviews, job experience and the measures /variables of performance, citizenship, absence along with other correlations between the proposed predictors like biodata, applicant exams, extraversion, consciousness and retail knowledge. Content validity of the methods of selection is one of the key questions that have to be addressed. There are quite a number of scales that Tanglewood proposed which perfectly match the content that they are intended to measure. And they also correspond properly with the specific work of store associates.  First, we have the retail market knowledge exam which comprises of questions that pertain to the industry and the uniqueness of Tanglewood in the industry. This is properly done and very relevant in the sense that it is related to the basic knowledge of some of the vital marketing principles.Marshfield applicant exam which aims at helping individuals to get some problem-solving abilities, accuracy and fluency in numerical concepts. The personality exam is aimed at identifying the various personality types of those intending to work with Tanglewood. This is necessary for it assists the management to understand the kind of employees to put in various departments. If Tanglewood is interested in getting some of the best people to work for them, there a quite a number of things that they must do. They should focus more on aspects like education of the individual, his or her competencies, the experience he or she has in that particular are to avoid hiring people who lack the know-how and ensure that they give them more training pertaining the kind of duties that the organisation offers. For instance, those in the human resource have to be assisted on how to hire the best people for particular jobs within the stores. The above names predictors are some of the best because they will  ensure that the organisation has people who are competent and know what they are required of by their employers.

What did the Impressionists aim to do Discuss their subject matter and Essay

What did the Impressionists aim to do Discuss their subject matter and their distinctive painting method - Essay Example The main aim of impressionists was to objectively record the world with respect to the protean effects of light and color. The Post-Impressionists, however, intended a better ambitious expression of light and color. Impressionists were initially considered as painters of mere impressions who are unable to create a well composed and finished painting. However, their special way of depicting the world received recognition later. An Impressionist paints outdoor sceneries and landscapes. They work for short period of time. They stop when light changes and resume their work when light become similar on another day. The Impressionist way of painting is done by making new advances in color. Color is packed in collapsible tubes that are portable. New ranges of colors are available, for example, some are less fugitive compared to others. Impressionist’s way working initially alienated the public though it gained great impression in some minds. The Thames below Westminster† is an example of nature painting that has the typical impressionist characteristics. It is a misty London landscape painting. The scene of London drowned in mass of fog captured the artistic heart of Claude. The special impressionist technique, the smear effect of brush touch, is recognizable in this painting. The less contrast of white and black and the balance between two main colors constitute the typical impressionist characteristics. Grey and beige color balance in the painting forms a smooth texture of mist perception. The Water-Lily Pond (1899) also has typical impressionist character of painting nature. The simple design of this painting, the lake and the close-up view of the bridge, makes it special. The painting shows an early summer day, leaves of fresh green color. The lively brushstrokes and application of pure color makes the painting a special impressionist painting. Seurat’s Bathers at Asnieres (1884), the celebrated painting of the young artist Georges Seurat (1859 -1891) shows some special impressionist characteristics. The usual pattern of impressionist paintings is visible in this painting. The open-air light effects, that are special characteristics of impressionist works, are found in this painting. According to impressionist ideas, the actual color of an object can be modified by various effects like sunlight, atmospheric light and juxtaposed colors. The technique of modifying color is visible in this painting. The painting is an example of the color theory of impressionists. It also shows an outdoor scene that is very common in impressionist paintings. A Wheatfield, with Cypresses 1889, the celebrated Vincent Van Gogh painting exhibits several characteristics of the paintings of impressionism. The painting shows nature, that is found in several other impressionist paintings. The equable balance of Impressionism, found in this painting, is cleanly replaced by an emotional disturbance. Calm objectivity is replaced by a special expression of intense feeling. The variety and freedom employed in the use of brush and the juxtaposition of near-primary colors makes A Wheatfield, with Cypresses 1889 a typical impressionist painting. The sunny landscape and the cypress trees also characterize the impressionist works. Van Gogh's Long Grass with Butterflies (1890) is another painting that shows the characteristics of works of the impressionism period. Nature scene and the color contrast visible in the painting makes it an impressionist painting. For capturing the constantly changing effects of light on

Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Across the centuries and across the continents, important figures have played key roles in the upbringing of our beloved America. As a country we have grown through the strengths of many people. John F. Kennedy has made his mark in America’s political and social society.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  On the histories plains of the state of Massachusetts, May 29, 1917 marked an important day in history. The birth of America’s 35th president: John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy, his mother, would bear four boys and five girls. â€Å"She kept note cards for each of them in a small wooden file box and made a point of writing down everything from a doctor’s visit to the shoe size they had at a particular age (Menendez). John’s father, Joseph Patrick Kennedy, was appointed United States Ambassador to England and moved their with the family. There was always something going on in the Kennedy family. During the summer, the Kennedy children’s childhoods consisted of rendezvous’ to their summer home in cape cod. Jack attended a boarding school for boys named Choate. He was very popular with the other boys, though his head master once quoted, â€Å"He wasn’t the best student† (Menendez). In 1936, John graduat ed from Choate, where he ventured into his first year at Harvard, where his brother Joe was already a student.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  After graduating from Harvard, John joined the Navy with his brother. Jack was made Lieutenant and assigned to the South Pacific as commander of a patrol torpedo boat, the PT-109. Lieutenant Kennedy had a crew of twelve men whose mission was to stop the enemy Japanese ships from delivering supplies to their soldiers. On August 2, 1943, Kennedy and his crew were patrolling the waters looking for enemy ships to sink and suddenly a Japanese destroyer traveling at full speed towards them became visible. With Kennedy at the wheel, he tried his best to veer sharply out of the way, but time proved no friend to him. The destroyer cut the PT – 109 straight in half and killed two of Kennedy’s men. A Time to Kill (1996) Argumentative Paragraph

A Time to Kill (1996) Violations of the Canadian Charter of Rights & Freedoms In the movie A Time To Kill, many rights & freedoms were violated according to the Canadian Charter of Rights & Freedoms. In this paragraph, three very big & important rights and/or freedoms will be discussed. The first is section 2 (Fundamental Freedoms), part c. The freedom of peaceful assembly was violated seven times in the movie; the most prominent is when the KKK formed outside the courthouse & demanded that Carl Lee be pronounced guilty or else they’re going to get violent, that is in direct violation of that freedom.Section 2, part d (freedom of association) was also violated as the KKK clearly violated that freedom by fundamentally being in existence because the purpose of their association is to hurt or kill anyone who lives in the United States of America and is not Caucasian and does not follow Christianity or Catholism. The second violation is Section 15 (Equality Rights) subsection 1. T his right provides equality before and under the law and equal protection and benefit of the law. Before & during the trial, Carl Lee was held in a segregated prison cell, which isn’t so bad but still racist, the next unfair treatment to Carl Lee was being put on trial in front of a bias and all white jury. When Carl Lee’s lawyer requested that the venue of the trial be changed due to the fact that the jury is all-white and bias, he hoped it be changed to a venue where the jury will be maybe fifty percent black. The judge, who is white, denied that request quite blatantly and anyways started the trial in Canton with a bias jury, which later on in the movie proved to extremely racist in their reasoning for Carl Lee being guilty. The third and last of many other rights & freedoms that have been violated in this movie is, section 13 (treatment or punishment). Everyone has the right not to be subjected to any cruel and unusual treatment or punishment. This right has been vio lated and abused in so many ways.Chronologically, Carl Lee’s daughter was raped and brutalized by the two racist red necks, Carl Lee being in a fit of rage procures an automatic rifle with a high ammunition capacity and shot those two men in cold blood while unintentionally severely injuring an officer of the law. If those violations weren’t enough, the KKK clan tries to punish the white lawyer for representing a black man by almost burning down his house and intentionally abusing and intending to kill that same lawyer’s paralegal. The clan capped it off by trying to assassinate Carl Lee’s lawyer with a high-powered sniper rifle, but the assassin missed and killed an officer (state trooper/soldier) of the United States of America. The Canadian Charter of Rights & Freedoms or any other similar constitution of rights and freedoms evidently was not implemented in the time present in the movie, but what is evident is that our society today has learned from tho se ethical & moral mistakes of the past and created policies, rights & freedoms to help prevent those mistakes from ever happening again.

Captain Philips Reality vs. Movie Excitement - 763 Words

Captured, kidnapped, and rescued, Paul Greengrass knows precisely how to seize his audience’s attention. Not only did I watch this movie with my eyes and mouth wide open, but I kept thinking to myself, â€Å"This actually happened in real life!† Little did I know Captain Philips was no hero. Not only was it his fault the ship was captured from getting too close to the Somalia Coast and ignoring warning emails, but he never truly gave up himself to the pirates. According to the article â€Å"Crew Members: ‘Captain Phillips’ is One Big Lie,† the ship’s crew tells Callahan Maureen that the captain was intransigent, audacious and didn’t follow protocol. Although, that is what Hollywood is great at: making heroes and false facts. The real crew members didn’t see Captain Philips as a hero because they believe he put them in the situation in the first place by ignoring the warnings he received to stay away from the Somalia coast. It mad e me question if Captain Philips was really the hero Hollywood portrays him to be. Although he was heroic through the whole event that took place, I believe he wasn’t the only one and I understand where the real crew is coming from. The crew mentions in the article â€Å"Captain Philips Is a Lie: Real Captain Is No Hero According to Crew,† that the real hero was Chief Engineer Mike Perry. He was the one who led the crew down stairs and captured the pirate for the exchange for the captain, yet he only had a small role in the movie.
